Clintonville is a Columbus metro area. High Street roughly divides the community. There are tons of shops, restaurants and small businesses up and down High Street and Indianola Avenue which is it's primary eastern boundary. The Olentangy Trail follows the river on the western boundary. Whetstone HS is among Columbus CSD's best and is in the heart of Clintonville. Also referred to as Beechwold in the northern portion. Home of Columbus Park of Roses.

With High Street as a main transit line, Clintonville is directly connected to the Old North Columbus area, adjacent to The Ohio State University.

As High Street continues south it passes through the Short North and into Downtown Columbus. As High Street continues north it also runs through the heart of Worthington, before crossing over I-270 and then becoming know as State Route 23 North. Loosely bounded by I-71 to the east and the Olentangy River to the west, Clintonville is a very vibrant area. There is a mixture of old, long established businesses and new cutting edge establishments as well.

From the Historical Marker Database: "Its early growth was due largely to a number of mechanics, carpenters, blacksmiths, shoemakers and other craftsmen who purchased lots along the Columbus- Worthington Road (present North High Street) and established their homes and businesses. Clintonville, named for the township, soon became a thriving center of shops, schools, and churches. On September 13, 1847, the Clintonville Post Office was opened near this site. It served this community until July 14, 1917, when Columbus took over the mail service and the post office was closed. As a suburb of Ohio’s capital city, Clintonville has been recognized through the years for its progressive spirit and its friendliness."
